"Smart Elderly" TV Series Promoting Positive Ageing


To promote positive ageing and raise public awareness of various ageing-related issues, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust has sponsored Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) to join hands with CADENZA and CUHK Jockey Club Institute of Ageing to produce a 10-episode TV series entitled "Smart Elderly". The first episode will be broadcast on TVB Jade at 7:00 pm on 30 June 2015.

Each episode of "Smart Elderly" will document a particular issue facing the elderly and through interviews and interactive games with seniors, solutions and positive messages to help arouse public awareness and more sympathetic support will be delivered.

Topics covered include financial arrangements; manpower issues in elderly care sector; care for elderly with dementia; home design and product design for elderly; seniors living alone; post-retirement work and life; relationship of elderly with family members and with spouse. Five key episodes will be broadcast on TVB Jade at 7:00 pm every Tuesday starting from 30 June, while an one-hour programme will be broadcast on digital terrestrial RTHK Channel 31 at 8:30 pm for 10 weeks starting from August 12.
