Introduction:
People with dementia usually have multiple needs. They may need support in many aspects of their lives due to the concerns in their physical functioning, behaviors, cognitive status and social relationship. Depends on the stage of dementia, the person would need different level of care. It is therefore important for the caregivers to have knowledge and skills to cope with these care needs. This seminar aims to educate the public regarding the trainings and activities that are suitable to people with dementia. With the appropriate care provided, it is anticipated that the functioning and hence the quality of life of people with dementia could be improved. Content:
- Stages of dementia and the level of care required
- Problems encountered by people with dementia
- Physical activities that are suitable to people with dementia
- Cognitive training for people with dementia
- Reminiscence therapy and its effect on emotion control and self-esteem
